Training for company spokespeople

Anyone who represents an organization in the media should be trained to deliver an effective interview. All too often, the opportunity to gain massive exposure is lost because the interviewer 'asked the wrong questions'. Effective Media Training equips spokespeople with the skills and experience to perform under pressure, no matter what.

Utilising the PA's fully equipped TV and radio studios, all our media trainers are journalists, currently active in the media. The content of every course is bespoke and an assigned Course Director works closely with the client to develop course materials that are directly relevant to the issues facing the organization and the individuals being trained.

Even experienced spokespeople need rehearsal, and the opportunity to practice the delivery of new and specific key messages in a real media environment is invaluable.

"TNR have provided a number of Media Training sessions for the MPA. The facilities are excellent and the fact that their studios are at the heart of the UK media scene only adds to the authenticity provided by the experienced trainers.”

Philip Powell, Director of Communications, Metropolitan Police

“We have used TNR for several years for a variety of clients and have always been impressed by their professional service. The course trainers do their homework and make the training sessions as realistic as possible. Their teaching methods are also highly focused so even the weakest individual progresses. It's no wonder that some of our clients have wanted all their senior managers trained by TNR.”

Nick Attenborough, MD, Attenborough Associates

• Research
Clients are always surprised at how much we know about the people being trained and their company or organisation. We brief ourselves at least as well as any journalist would before conducting an in-depth newspaper or broadcast interview.
• Relevance
We do not follow a “one course fits all” philosophy. We discuss your training requirements and then construct a course schedule that is designed for the specific needs of those being trained.
• Realism
When the trainee enters the TV or Radio studio, it is exactly like going “on air” so the delegate can experience the nerves of a real media interview. Developing the confidence to deliver key messages while dealing with nerves is the key to TNR’s training.

Presentation Skills

TNR’s Presentation skills courses are tailored to the exact needs of the delegates – be it a Chief Executive about to address the company’s AGM or a corporate or organisation’s spokesperson rehearsing for a press briefing.

Training can be for individuals or done in groups, in advance of a specific event or as general preparation. All training focuses on four main attributes – Content, Preparation, Support and Delivery. There are many reasons for making a presentation but with all of them practice and good preparation is key.
