Crisis Workshops and Training

Crises can come in many guises.

"Concise, to the point and well-delivered by a team that obviously knows its stuff."

Richard Edwards, Royal Liver Assurance

"The course was very well put together, with brilliant case studies that really brought the lessons home."

Helen Barrat, B&Q

A security breach, contamination or product recall, industrial disputes, acts of terrorism or negative financial news; all reputable companies should have contingency plans ready in the event of an unforeseen crisis.

But being able to deal with the many and varied threats to a company’s reputation, and therefore its value, is one thing. Communicating through the crisis is another.

You can have a superb business continuity plan in place but if the communication with your stakeholders is bad, the impact can still be devastating.

‘Communicating through a crisis’ is the latest offering from TNR and The Press Association. It is a must for those working in communications and business continuity.

The course is run by Jim Ensom who is recognised as one of the UK’s foremost authorities in crisis management and business continuity.

A former BBC reporter, Jim spent over 20 years covering major crises including BSE, the sinking of Herald of Free Enterprise and the bombing of the Grand Hotel in Brighton. As a crisis expert he has provided disaster consultancy for events such as the Kent floods and London bombings on 7/7.

The one-day workshop covers:
• What to communicate and when
• To whom and by whom
• Methods of communication
• Frequency of updating information

A series of practical exercises will also help equip delegates for developing or updating communications plans for their own organisations.

The workshops are held at The Press Association’s headquarters in London. Each workshop also includes a session with PA’s editor on communicating with and through the media.

The cost is £795 + VAT per delegate and the dates for 2008 are as follows:
