On 10th April, a new report was published, by University College London, revealing that over half of British adults (54%) are suffering from periodontal disease, a bacterial infection of the gums and support structures which hold teeth in place. However, new data showed that only one in five of the population had ever heard of the disease.
Dr Anthony Zybutz, an independent dentist was made available via ISDN to discuss the implications of the report and offer advice to listeners on prevention and detection of periodontal disease, with regards to correct oral hygiene. In addition he was able to discuss regional statistics relating to how many dentists per head of population are available across the country.
TNR was brought in to secure as many radio interviews as possible. A dedicated team then spent two full days selling in the story and letting broadcasters across the UK know about Anthony’s availability.
A total of 14 radio interviews were achieved, including hits with Sky News Radio and with regional stations BBC Radio Humberside, Hallam FM & Essex FM, amongst others. Many local stations also read the story from copy to use in their bulletins. This brought the total number of hits to 19, a fantastic result.
